A Destination Winter Wedding in Savannah Georgia

I know you can’t tell but this sweet wedding in Savannah Georgia was FREEZING! That’s because Stephanie and RJ are absolute champs and even though they were trying to avoid the winter weather by planning a destination wedding in Savannah, the weather had other plans, but they sure did make the best of it. My Aunt lives in Savannah so we visit at least once a year, and it is one of our favorite cities on the east coast. Between the Spanish moss, walkability, beach access and the and food scene..it’s a total gem. So when Stephanie reached out for a Savannah wedding and made a joke that they got engaged one week after meeting, I was all in. Savannah and sarcasm? My type of people right here.

We hit all the perfect spots for a Savannah wedding, they got ready in a beautiful space on Broughton Street, we went to the charming Jones Street for their portraits, they had their ceremony in Pulaski Square, and ended the evening in the stunning Garibaldi’s Cafe. Three of my favorite things they chose to do for their wedding were;

  1. Exchanged private letters. They met up in the getting ready space and read letters to each other so they could have privacy to share some thoughts about their relationship and their big day. Much easier to share emotional and intimate thoughts when you have some privacy.

  2. When the bridal party portraits were over and it was time for just their portraits, they sent their bridal party off to a local coffee shop to get warmed up and hang out until they were done. A nice break for the bridal party!

  3. They had a phone at the reception where guests could leave a message for them so they could save the audio and listen to after the wedding! What a unique “guest book” idea?!

I’m always inspired by couples finding ways to make their day their own and Stephanie and RJ did just that. And despite the temperatures they were joyful the whole time, and if you have ever met them you’d know how true that is because I'm convinced these two never have a bad day together when they are able to keep each other laughing so much.

What Stephanie had to say: “We are so grateful to have had you with us through this entire process. From planning our engagement shoot, to talking through my crazy timeline ideas, to sharing hand warmers with us on what was the coolest day in Savannah in 4 years. You are such an amazing human and we feel honored you shared your talent with us on this most special day.”
