Rock Climbing Engagement Session - Grayson Highlands State Park

Danielle and Matt had many fun ideas for their engagement session and it got me so excited. I tell every couple to take advantage of their engagement session and do something fun and meaningful for you! (Which you can read more about my thoughts for having the best engagement session in my upcoming journal post next month.) As we chatted more through their ideas it just made total sense that they would go rock climbing! Why? Because that’s what they love to do and how they spend their time together. So we headed to Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia, which is known for bouldering (climbing without ropes) in this area. Bonus? It also has wild ponies and stunning mountain views.

But as luck would have it the weather was cold, rainy, and foggy.

I thought for sure they would want to reschedule but, true adventurers at heart, they had headed to the mountain early to scope it out and when I arrived they were already climbing!

I’m pretty sure we had the whole park to ourselves that day because we legitimately didn’t see another human there. After climbing a few routes, and me watching in awe, they changed outfits and we explored the park. Though we didn’t get to see any epic views, and the wind was strong and cold, we had the best time.

They chose to do something meaningful to them for their session and they created memories they won’t soon forget.
