Blue Ridge Mountain Wedding at Sky Retreat Venue / Kristin + Mike
Kristin and Mike chose Sky Retreat for their summer mountain wedding and it is one of my favorite venues in the Blue Ridge Mountains! The best part is that the venue also has cabins on site where family or bridal party can also stay which makes things so convenient. If you’re looking for a venue especially one is a more secluded area, I highly suggest finding one with accommodations on site as well. After getting ready with their crew in the separate cabins (and momentarily having to sew the groom’s pants!) Kristin and Mike shared their first look on the ridge overlooking the mountains. Mike’s face pretty much says it all. At this time they also chose to share private vows which is always a great opportunity to share more personal, intimate words in private. Once we took some time for portraits with their incredibly fun bridal party we got ready for the ceremony under the most perfect summer sky. I still can’t believe how lucky they were to have such mild breezy weather in the middle of August.
The entire time, Kristin and Mike were pure joy. Nothing bothered them (not even the pants fiasco), they shared the sweetest vows and they were so content in each others company, really soaking in their portrait time together. I always recall that in their questionnaire Kristin said “We're just two awkward goobs trying to stay normal.” and while I absolutely laughed reading it, I didn’t see one ounce of awkward goob on their wedding day. They wrapped up the night holding down the dance floor with friends and family, complete with glow sticks (which yes, you should definitely have at your reception, guests love them!).
