Point Reyes National Seashore Engagement Session

A quick hour and a half drive north from bustling San Fransisco and you’ll find yourself in the quiet calm of Point Reyes National Seashore. Point Reyes is a long expanse of protected coastline in Northern California covering about 71,000 acres that include beaches, grasslands, headlands and estuaries which makes it a hot spot for wildlife! The road into Point Reyes that ends at the lighthouse meanders through fields of cows that belong to the historic dairy farms and really sets the peaceful tone of the Point Reyes area. Considering how close it is to San Fransisco and that it is a popular spot for whale watching, it was surprisingly not very crowded for our engagement session with Vanessa and Bryan.

We stopped at the Cypress Tree Tunnel, the Sea Lion Overlook and the South Beach Overlook and yes we did see a few whales! Though we stuck to these 3 spots, Point Reyes has much more to offer too. I love Point Reyes because it has a handful of spots that offer a variety of scenery and viewpoints and they are all quite easy to access. We went on a beautiful sunny evening at sunset during peak whale watching season and it was not at all as crowded as I anticipated. I imagine at sunrise you might even get the place to yourself.
