Alpine Lake Picnic Elopement at Heather Meadows

Heather Meadows Visitor Center is along the Mt. Baker Scenic Highway near Artist Point. The visitor center sits right above Bagley Lakes and has numerous trails. Bagley Lakes Loop is an easy 2 mile hike around the alpine lakes and only receives moderate foot traffic for the area and being such an easy hike.

We took the short walk down to Bagley Lakes just as the sky was turning from dark blue black to a light blue right before sunrise on a September morning. While we waited for the sun to make it’s appearance and Slow Cult began setting up the morning brunch picnic, we had the entire lake to ourselves. It was incredibly peaceful and gave us a very calm pace to start the day, which is probably my favorite thing about sunrise elopements. The morning hours force you to slow down your pace and often times wait for the sun and the world to wake up.

Once it did, we took our time exploring the easy trail around the lake, occasionally stopping to pick some wild blueberries and then enjoy the delicious brunch Slow Cult had set up as a picnic right on the rocky shore next to the soothing water. Can you ask for a more immersive and nature focused elopement morning?! Also this is your reminder that you don’t have to forsake beautiful details and amazing food if you’re having an adventure elopement. You just need to hire incredible professionals who get you and your vision and can bring it to life.

PRO TIP: Hire vendors that are familiar with the outdoors and Leave No Trace principles so that they can provide you an incredible experience that doesn’t have a negative impact on the environment.
