Summer Mountain Wedding at Sky Retreat Venue
Each year I take on a small handful of larger weddings and Melissa & Jordan’s wedding last summer at Sky Retreat wedding venue will go down as one of my faves! First, the venue is just stunning and surrounded by the mountains. I absolutely love nature focused venues - they allow you to enjoy the beauty of the epic landscape but give you all the comforts and ease a venue provides, and the Sky Retreat is one of the best in the North Carolina Mountains.
Second, Melissa and Jordan were just some of the most wonderful people we have had the pleasure of serving on their wedding day. Some of my favorite moments from their day included:
Jordan having a barber come in and provide him and his groomsmen a fresh cut. The first time I’d ever seen that! But hey, the guys deserve some pampering too.
The girls accidentally spraying champagne on the boys from the upper level deck….whoops!
Melissa and Jordan did a “first touch” and exchanged gifts instead of a first look. Jordan gave Melissa a scrapbook with photos and notes they exchanged over the years they dated and trust me, we were all in tears.
A light drizzle of rain started during their entrance into the outdoor reception and Melissa didn’t bat an eye. The light rain quickly left but first gave us a rainbow.
Jordans first dance with his mom was so emotional and sweet. It was clearly evident how special their relationship is.
The dessert bar! Heck yes.
Another first for me on a wedding day…Jordan pulling out a hidden pair of giant granny panties when he went to retrieve the garter! Absolutely deaddddd.
Melissa and Jordan welcomed us in to their family and their celebration whole heartedly, they embraced every bit of the day, and truly had so. much. fun. Melissa also has her own incredible photography/videography business Bea Rose Films, so I think she knew what to expect when it came to all things weddings, but getting to serve her as a bride was such a privilege.
